- Kanazawa accounts for 100% of Japan’s domestic gold leaf production.But what exactly is gold leaf? Hammered and stretched by skilled artisans, gold leaf is approximately one ten-thousandth of a millimeter thick. Tanahashi from Hakuza will introduce its remarkable characteristics, history, and production process, as well as the history and culture of Kanazawa. You can also watch a live demonstration of part of the production process by a skilled gold leaf artisan.
